Lalafell Gamer Museum
Hyperion | Goblet Ward 2 Plot 40
Gamer Museum? Enough Said.
Chi Huahua. No, not the breed of dog, but a friend of mine sent me the party finder information for something called the Lalafell Gamer Museum. What a peculiar name I thought. I suppose I am a gamer of sorts and while I am not a Lalafell (right now), Chi is. Perhaps if I pretended to be his chaperone I’ll be allowed inside just in case of any strict height requirements.
The museum had a lovely exterior with plenty of flowers and trees in its small courtyard. As I stood outside, I had a pleasant flashback to the time I worked at an art museum in New York. My mind was racing as I thought about how a museum could be pulled off in the RP space but the eerie sound of silence broke my train of thought. I looked down and Chi was gone. My first day of being a chaperone was not going as planned.
We entered the space and I was speechless. A wave of nostalgia hit me and I felt like a little kid in a toy store.
Colors, lights, figurines, a claw machine, video games, puzzles, and more.
Karra Stoutbottom, one of the owners of the museum greeted us. She noticed my face was plastered against the claw machine. “Do you want to use the claw machine?”, she asked. My head turned 180 degrees “I CAN USE IT!?”
I was informed that if I did /random and rolled high enough I would get a prize… and I did! I won a Fawn. What a brilliant idea. According to Karra, while the theme of the museum always changes, the claw machine will always be there!
Karra was lively and informative. She asked all of her visitors to explore and have fun. All private chambers of the museum had their own theme. Mario World, Zelda, Kirby, Pokemon, and more! Before venturing into the rooms, we visited the museum’s lower level.
Bright pops of color added to the playfulness of the theme as a whole. Pinks, purples, greens, and more. It reminded me of the color palettes used in some classic SNES games.
The Exhibits
Each room was creatively put together to reflect the game it represented. As a Zelda fan, I was absolutely blown away by the attention to detail put into its room. From the stained glass windows, Master Sword, costumes, and the Lost Woods, it all came together. The Stoutbottoms managed to capture my childhood and it brought me so much joy. All of the rooms were done quite well and you can view the gallery above to see some of the other themes!
One thing was very clear about this space. A lot of love went into making it. What I learned from Karra during our interview really drove that home.
About the Stoutbottoms
This museum is designed and owned by Karra Stoutbottom and her husband Kip Stoutbottom. Together, they designed all of the rooms including the main floor. Not too far away is another house they own called SmolButFashionable, a fashion house that also changes based on their desired theme. I believe Karra is considering a Disney fashion exhibit for Halloween!
One of my favorite things they’ve created actually has nothing to do with the museum itself. If you are new to gposing they have created their own guide on their Discord on how to take really fun gposes!
LEGAIA: How long do the themes generally last?
KARRA: 1-3 days to a week. We change very often, so people don’t get too bored with the classics. I redecorate a lot as it is my passion!
LEGAIA: Do you have anything you would like the readers to know?
KARRA: Well nothing tends to stay the same for too long but hopefully you had fun! EVERYONE LOVES CLAW MACHINE. Any can come and go with friends for a date or visit, been a few doing just that, and some ask for special requests (hence the Nameday Cake).
The Stoutbottoms have created a wonderful museum that is open and available to everyone! The themes change based on Karra’s housing itch so what you might find today could be gone tomorrow. The Lalafell Gamer Museum has already changed its Mystery Room to a new theme. Check it out!
