When you make connections on your own that become strong, long-lasting friendships that blossom into the best writing experience ever, you will never regret it.

I think my disability has much to do with the appeal of RP. It makes me feel alive in this amazing world where I can run and dance with no worries. I can just be a normal person like everyone else. It's worth giving it a try if you can manage to take that first step.

Trying RP in the beginning can be embarrassing and I still get nervous at times. If you're interested in it I think it can be a lot of fun. If you make RP friends or creative buddies, that's even better!

Roleplay is a thing that is entirely what you make of it. Take your time, remember to breathe, and stick to it. Most of us are as anxious and nervous as you are.

It doesn't matter if you're playing a warrior searching for adventure or just some cat who wants to sell hats on the Lane. There are places for everyone. Keep an open mind, be kind, and you will find your story.

I can almost certainly guarantee that we can't tell the difference between an English Learner and an English Native speaker merely based on a typing error, especially since we all make them! We're thrilled to meet anyone interested in RP and look forward to learning about your character and the stories you wish to share. I always try to remember to be kind to others. Because like me, they might be going through something in their life and the game is something that helps them through it.

Don't be afraid to ask for the roleplay you want to do. Communities are out there and if you don't see what you like, speak up and be the change you want to see. Never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot be.

RP is an outlet for creativity, and we will always find our people, our tribe. They are out there somewhere waiting to meet you.

Anytime you raise your hand to try something new, you’re probably going to hit obstacles. You’re not going to get anywhere if you listen to those negative thoughts, whether they be yours or someone else’s… unless you actually do it!

It's good to remind yourself that everyone you meet is also putting themselves out there and hoping you don't judge them too. We're all doing the same thing.

RP with the mindset of wanting to have fun, giving it a try without expectations, and don't be afraid to talk to people and ask questions.

The more you roleplay, the easier it gets. Don't worry about the stakes early on, and don't be afraid to take it slow. You will make friends who will support your RP and sometimes facilitate it because roleplayers remember other roleplayers. You will find that they take as much comfort in a familiar face as you do.

We’re all just ‘roleplayers’ at the end of the day no matter what letter or acronym you put before it to specify. Everyone should remember that we’re all seeking fun and enjoyment. There’s always an audience for the stories you want to create. It’s just a matter of finding them and showing respect.

Anxiety isn’t the same for everyone. I was at a point where I'd slip into a panic attack at the notion of starting a conversation with almost anyone. Work on yourself and seek help if you can.

Having anxiety is debilitating. Just because I have a character that is confident doesn't necessarily mean anxiety is not something I suffer from. Always approach people with empathy and recognize what you can do to create a safe space for them.

Instead of worrying about others, try to make sure YOU feel comfortable going out of your comfort zone. It was a learning process for all of us.

With anxiety, we either have the urge to fight or to take flight. However, it's important to remember that we don't always have to run away from our peers; perhaps someone is just as anxious to talk to you as you are to them. Sometimes, you may feel like you're not enough, but in my experience, everyone is grappling with similar feelings. Just be yourself!

Despite my two years of playing FFXIV, I have only roleplayed a handful of times. Every time I found the courage to send the first message, I have never regretted it. People aren’t as hostile or closed off as you believe. You never know, it may lead you to find a group of friends in the process!

RP's second name is Communication. It is cooperative storytelling, so if in doubt, ask away, and more often than not, we're eager to share details about our characters!

Kindness and understanding go a long way into having a good RP session and/or partnership. Consent and communication are a must and it might be nerve-wracking to speak up at first but it will help!

Everyone has anxiety and doubts just like you even though it doesn't show on a pixel avatar /leaning against a wall. We're all worrying about how our own RP is perceived to worry about yours. So go out there and follow your heart!
